Connections

  • The albums name borrows a-lot from a christian belief of The Devil. The Movie gives a-lot to a god referred to as “Claudandus”. Religious symbols and imagery are shown throughout the film.
  • The album booklet contains on one of the lyric pages, hieroglyphics.
  • This could be the connection with the film, for the film shows a-lot of hieroglyphics & Egyptian imagery.

Lyrical/musical connections

Hollow

  • The song begins as soon as the “Senator Films” logo shows.
     

  • “Turning in circles, slowing down” - Showing the car turn a corner.
     

  • “All of your colours turn to grey” - After this is said, it cuts back to Francis, one of his fur colours is grey.
     

  • “...bellow” - Francis looks under his paws at the dirty floor.
     

  • “mountain” - Francis looking up the stairs.
     

  • “All of the faces life can show, Withered and ugly the one you know” - Francis finds Blaubart, a not so pleasant looking cat.

Pretty Done

  • “So you got the thing you wanted” - Francis says at that moment: “That’s All I Need! Archie”. [This part of dialogue is from the original German dub w/ English subtitles.]
     

  • “Slap me 'round” - Francis gets nudged away by his owner.
     

  • “I'm supposed to smile and ignore it” - Francis smiles as the mysterious man puts the collar on him.
     

  • “Pushing towards” - Blaubart opens the door.

Stone

  • “your tour guide” - Blaubart ahead of Francis as they walk.
     

  • “cold” -  Francis gives Kong a cold unimpressed look.
     

  • “Time will bring your very own hard truth” - Francis and Bluebart discuss if the murder victims were cats in heat, a possible clue to the mystery.

Voices

  • “Everybody listen” - Francis seeing and hearing suicides happening in front of him.
     

  • “Voices in my head” - The original movies audio a cat getting electrocuted and it zooms into Francis's face.
     

  • “I want more, than I need, I don't know what is real” - A Cat preaching to the group of cats of “Claudandus” accepting their suicides.
     

  • “Everybody listen, Voices…” - The cats all shout Hallelujah.
     

  • “Holding onto everything” - Francis holding to the edge of the hole, and the cats following trying to climb up the plank of wood.
     

  • “To fall down again” - Some cats chasing Francis fall from the roof behind him.

  • “friend” - Felicity and Francis, laughing together. A little earlier, Felicity asked if Francis was friend or foe.
     

  • “...just fear” - Felicity explains to Francis the “images” she sees when she became blind.
     

  • “Waitin'” - She tells him her name and waits for his question.
     

  • “Look at me” - as soon as this is said, Francis speaks and Felicity turns her head in his direction as if too look at him since she’s blind.

Lab Monkey

  • “Have yourself a kick” - Preterius mentions to Francis some of the murder victims were in “heat”.
     

  • “won't forget” - Francis sees Felicity's name entered in the list of murdered cats.
     

  • “We'll never know what this is, 'til we take a look inside” - Francis discovers Felicity decapitated.
     

  • “Limped away from the wreck” - Some of the corpses move aside in a wave like motion.
     

  • “Had enough” - The dream comes to an end as a cat head hits the screen which turns into static.

Low Ceiling

  • “Wonder where he's been hiding at” - Francis after saying “Rat hunt!” looks in the basement of the house.
     

  • “Falls closing in, got nowhere to hide” - Francis kills a rat.
     

  • “It's a moment in time, That defines and deforms you” - the moment seen is from a VHS tape, of scientists doing experiments on cats.
     

  • “I'm too big or this room's too small” - Showing Claudandus in the cage.

Breath on a Window

  • “Find a break in the highway” - Francis escapes Kong thru the basement skylight.
     

  • “Out here I'm invisible, Very few going my way” - Francis now outside in the rain and runs off knowing Kong and his two friends are following him.
     

  • “...showing” - Francis finds another dead cat and her dead unborn.
     

  • “And you would never know” - Kong’s dialogue at this scene is: “My God, what have they done to you?! My poor Solitaire”.
     

  • “Penetrated from the side” - A cat jumps from the bushes and rushes to the other side of the yard.
     

  • “I'd let you go” - Kong and his friends leave, Kong also says “Yeah! Let’s Go!” at that very moment.

Scalpel

  • “Road narrows, pouring down” - Francis and Bleubart travel down a cave.
     

  • “without a sound” - Bleubart says to Francis: “Not so loud”.
     

  • “Frozen dreaming” - Francis looks at a cat, looking like he’s asleep.
     

  • “Hard as truth is…” - The Guardian of the Dead’s dialogue at that moment is “But then he left me to proclaim the word of the prophet”.  

Phantom Limb

  • “No hope of rescue” - Francis’s friends disappear and fly away.
     

  • “If I don't dig my own way out, I'll die here” - Francis sinks in through the clouds in his dream.
     

  • “Bottom feeders” - Francis bits on the neck of the female cat as they mate.

Hung on a Hook

  • “behind your eyes” - Bleubart enters in a room looking inside.
     

  • “I'm caught in a still life” - Bleubart finds a room of cat statues.
     

  • “Look up at you as you change more” - Bleubart looking up at Preterius.
     

  • “Floating” - Snow falling in the background.
     

  • “Perform euthanasia” - Preterius mentions to the crowd the murderer. Euthanasia could jokingly be used as the cat murders in the film, since itself is the phrase to put down animals.

Choke

  • “A very long hard way to fall” - Francis climbs up a tree to
    enter in to the house.
     

  • “Go then, if you don't feel right” - He climbs the best he could along the tree.
     

  • “It was you I found” - Francis finds the book he needs.
     

  • “So go then” - A car leaves in view.
     

  • “Alone” - Francis looks on the computer.

Second Play-through

Hollow

  • “Easy to fend off a weaker thing” - Preterius prepares himself to fight.
     

  • “All of your colours turn to grey” - Like in the first runthru showing a character with again grey fur.
     

  • “Silence, So loud, Silence I can't tell my up from down” - The two start to fight each other falling off the desk.
     

  • The guitar solo complimenting the intense fight scene.
     

  • “All of the faces life can show” - showing their faces cut.
     

  • “All tunneled and drilled below” - Francis cuts open Preterius causing his organs to spew out.

Pretty Done

  • The song starts as soon as it cuts to Francis and Bleubart laying on the ground bleeding.
     

  • “I'm pretty done, Once a favored son. I'm pretty done, Slap me 'round for fun” - Francis sums up the happy ending. After the lyrics are sung, it fades to black and the credits roll.
