Set Up: Start the album when the film begins, when the Columbia Pictures logo starts to fade in.

Notes: Do not use the Spotify version of the album as that uses a completely different track listing, using songs that where never on the original CD.

Connections

  • The movies name is of course, Starman. One R short of Ringo Starr, man....

  • The booklet of the compilation contains images of all/most of the singles on the album. The cover of Photograph shows Ringo in a “tin-foil” star, giving it an early Sci-Fi look. Snookeroo and No-No Song’s record label have what appears to be a sun or something star looking.

Lyrical/musical connections

Photograph
  • “Every time I see your face it reminds me of the places we used to go. But I’ll I’ve got is a photograph and I realize you’re not coming back anymore” x3 - The camera pans into the window of the house showing the main character Jenny Hayden watching an old film of her and her late husband.

It Don't Come Easy
  • “It don’t come easy” x3 - Jenny after watching the home film looking dejected.

  • The guitars kick in as soon as Jenny opens her eyes.

  • “Standing there” - the Starman in the form of a baby, looking at Jenny who’s standing in the doorway.

  • “Back off boogaloo x6” - Jenny grabs a gun ready to shoot the Starman.

  • “come on” - the Starman turns his head as soon as the lyrics are sung. As if to make a “come on...” type of gesture.

  • The truck is still visible in the background as the chorus is repeated.

(You have no idea how funny that part is, Trust me, you'll get a great laugh from it - Sam the Angel Fox)

A Dose of Rock 'n' Roll
  • Song ends exactly as scene does.

Weight of the World
King of Broken Hearts
  • The song starts, appropriately, with Jenny crying.

  • “Look how fast the tide can turn…” - The scene cuts to the Starman outside the restaurant with Jenny looking from inside.

(From this point to the rest of the song, I personally found it to be very emotional, the song’s emotion as the deer is brought back to life. I feel suited the scene very well - Sam the Angel Fox)

Never Without You
  • “...bright spark lights.” - Jenny fires off a gun in an attempt to break up the fight.

Act Naturally (Ft.Buck Owens)

No No Song

It's All Down to (Goodnight Vienna)

Hey Baby
A Dose of Rock 'n' Roll
  • “You’re feeling down, you’re feeling blue. You do know that you care, but you don’t know what to do.” - The introduction of the song, musically and (to a degree) lyrically, suits the scene where the Starman departs in the spherical spaceship. The buildup and structure of the song suits the end of the film quite nicely, and is also a nice segue into the credits.

Weight of the World
  • The song serves as the syncs credit/ending song.
